Site Mock Up

I sent another version of my site over to the client for some feed back. I also included some touched up logo's to get an opinion on them and to see if they were satisfactory to the clients needs.

I received this email back;

I will now make these changed as required as to fit with the clients requests.

Logo mock up

Logo

I mocked up some different versions of a logo to send to the client for some feedback. I wanted to know it the image was what he would want, if the colour scheme was appropriate, thoughts on the text and any improvements he wanted me to make so I could go away and work on them.

Response from client

After receiving this email I made the changes and then sent over my work. This is the email I received back;

Research - Websites

To help me understand the requirement of the website, I looked at some other window cleaning websites both local and national. This would help to see the sorts of things included on websites and establish colour schemes, font styles, logo use and site layouts.

I think the logo on this website looks very aesthetically pleasing. The gradients and highlights make the images look 3d and the sparkles and bubbles really relate to the idea of water and shine. I think the use of bubbles could be something I could use in my design as it immediately suggests the use of water.

The background of this page also suggests bubbles and the use of the blue colour again emphasized the use of water. I think blue is definitely the right choice of colour as it is not over powering and looks good on screen.

I like how the colour of the tab changes when it is clicked, this helps remind the user exactly what page they are on. I will use something like this to help aid the navigation on my site.

Again in this site the logo works well with its use of a bubble. The purple is a good alternative to blue, without going too far off to recognize what it is trying to represent.

The white text on the black is easy to read and the navigation is simple but effective. I think I will include a change of colour when rolling over or clicking on a tab. The menu being along the top works well as it is easy to find and simple to use.

The bubble and sparkles down the right hand side of this site are particularly impressive. They add an interesting texture to the page and really emphasize the window cleaning and water use. I like how they are only used down one side of the page. I think the white balances well against the blue and fits in the 'divine' style, it represent the sky and clouds and ties in perfectly with the logo. I think another shade of blue or white would have worked well on the buttons to better in keep with the water idea. I like how there isn't too much information so you don't get lost in it. Also the use of logo's at the bottom of the page add to the professional touch to the site.

This site also uses purple as an alternative along with the blue. The site is simple but neat. I think more graphics would help represent the business more successfully and what it does.

There also could be a logo, to create the idea of a brand, it would help the viewer know exactly what this company does as from first glance it is difficult to establish.

For my site I would definitely like to use the colour blue and incorporate the use of bubbles and sparkles. I will use traditional ideas but modernize them to give them an alternative look, something striking and noticeable. I would like to use buttons at the top of my page that changes colour once clicked so it is easy to tell where abouts on the site you are.

Window Cleaning Research - Logo's

Before I could generate some initial ideas, I felt it would be necessary to research some established window cleaning business so that I could appreciate just exactly what was already on the market and how well they advertise themselves. This would also allow me to see any trends or specific images that may have been used by several companies or typically over used by a majority. I wanted to strive to achieve something less traditionally whilst in keeping with the theme suggested by the client.

For my website I would really like my design to represent the 'Zeitgeist' of the company. For this I would like my design to be: Sophisticated yet modern, using bold graphics and clean lines to embrace the modern day whilst representing a traditional business.

I think this logo is quite successful in some regards as it is simple and the stencil like graphics are striking. However I think the logo could also be
a little confusing as it could look like someone painting rather than window cleaning because the bucket of water could be mistaken to be a tin of paint and the squeegee could be said to look like a paint roller. This is something I will need to consider when designing my logo. It will need to be clear exactly what it is advertising so there is no misunderstanding.

 This logo is similar to the one above in it being a man holding a squeegee. this would suggest that people would identify this as being an easy way to represent a window cleaner. This logo is more in a cartoon style and I think it doesn't work as well as the logo above. I may consider incorporate a squeegee and a man in my design, although I think it would be more realistic or perhaps in silhouette.

In this logo I think the use of rhyming words works well as it makes it easy to remember. It is uncomplicated and I think for my design I will also use quite a simple structure as not to over bombard. The word divine is also represented well by the use of wings and a halo, I think it is important the the logo design must reflect the company it is about.

This logo isn't traditionally a way of representing a window cleaner, but I think the use the word ultimate with the strong arm helps represent the message the company is trying to portray. I think if maybe the circle around the edge was replaced with a window it would better emphasize the window cleaning. I like the use of the mountains and scene in the background as it represents the notion of being outside, which is essentially a lot of window cleaning is. The arm also helps put across the physical element of the job, which is important because window cleaning is quite physical.

With all of the logo's above I feel like there could be some colour added. Perhaps blue as it represents water and this could also be used in my design as the client would like blue incorporated.
